6 Chain | Cohn | Clark Attorneys Honored with Coveted ‘Super Lawyers’ Distinction

Six attorneys at Chain | Cohn | Clark have been named to the 2024 “Super Lawyers” listing by Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine.
Chain | Cohn | Clark attorneys Matt Clark, David Cohn, Chris Hagan, Beatriz Trejo, and James Yoro were selected to the Super Lawyers list, awarded to no more than 5% of the lawyers in the state. Attorney Tanya Alsheikh was selected to the “Rising Stars” list, awarded to no more than 2.5% of lawyers in the state under the age of 40.
Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area.

Tanya D. Alsheikh is an associate attorney focusing on accident, injury, and elder abuse cases. She was selected as one of the “20 Under 40 People to Watch” in Bakersfield Life Magazine, which highlights outstanding young men and women whom Bakersfield can be proud of, who possess a hard work ethic, dedication, and a passion for volunteering. She is a board member for the Kern Community Foundation, is involved in various activities at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Bakersfield and is an executive board member of the Bakersfield Christian High School Alumni Association. She is fluent in Arabic.
Matt Clark is managing partner at Chain | Cohn | Clark, and focuses on personal injury law, including auto accident, sexual abuse, elder abuse and neglect, wrongful death, and other accident and injury cases. In 2021, Matt was the lead attorney on a pedestrian accident case involving a truck that settled for $22.1 million, one of the largest settlements in the firm’s history. Outside of the office, Matt is a board member on the Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Kern County Advisory Board, as well as the board for Children’s Advocates Resource Endowment (C.A.R.E.), a nonprofit that raises money for local children’s charities. He frequently provides expert legal opinions for news media stories.
David Cohn is a previous managing partner of the firm, now ‘Of Counsel’, and one of the most highly regarded trial lawyers in California. He is annually recognized in the Best Lawyers in America program, which is the oldest and among the most respected attorney ranking services in the world, is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates and selected to join the International Society of Barristers. Over the course of his career, David has obtained numerous multi-million-dollar results on behalf of his clients.
Chris Hagan is a partner and attorney at the firm and has more than 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer. Before joining Chain | Cohn | Clark, Chris worked as an attorney providing litigation services for insurance companies, public entities, and private businesses with a focus on personal injury, insurance defense, public entity liability, and employment litigation. He is past president of the Kern County Bar Association and past director of its Charitable Foundation.
Beatriz Trejo is a partner at Chain | Cohn | Clark, where she focuses on workers’ compensation cases. She is a Certified Legal Specialist in Workers’ Compensation by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization and was selected by the State Bar of California as the “Workers’ Compensation Young Lawyer of the Year.” She is past president of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA), Bakersfield Chapter. Outside of the office, she supports her community through local organizations including Latina Leaders of Kern County, Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center Foundation for Community Wellness. Beatriz is fluent in Spanish, and appears on local Spanish radio stations, assisting local residents with their legal questions. She was recently featured in the 2024 issue of Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine, in the “Discovery” section where prominent lawyers answer questions about themselves so the audience can get to know them better.
James Yoro is a veteran attorney and ‘Of Counsel’ in the firm’s workers’ compensation practice. He is also a Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional and is one of the most veteran and most respected workers’ compensation lawyers in California. He is the past president of Kern County Bar Association and was recognized in the Best Lawyers in America program, which is the oldest and among the most respected attorney ranking services in the world. Over the course of his career, James has argued cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. He is also responsible for securing a $4.5 million Workers’ Compensation settlement on behalf of his client, one of the largest such settlements in Kern County. For nearly 40 years, he has fought day in and day out for the rights of injured workers. James is also deeply involved in the Filipino community.
